This article explains to install Acronis software on Linux systems without installing packages required for compiling SnapAPI module on every machine. Instead, it's possible to install Acronis agent on a test machine and distribute precompiled module over your systems.

On the source machine:

1. Build SnapAPI modules:

Make sure that the antivirus software running in your environment does not block Acronis products. See Acronis Software: Making Acronis Products Compatible with Antivirus Software

Under specific circumstances software may crash. It is very important to report a crash instead of trying to workaround it. Normal workflow for a crash problem is the following:

This article applies to:

  • Oracle Linux Server 6.5 Kernel 3.8.13-44.1.3.el6uek.x86_64
  • Oracle Linux Server 6.6 Kernel 3.8.13-44.1.3.el6uek.x86_64
  • Oracle Linux Server 6.8 Kernel 3.8.13-118.14.2.el6uek.x86_64

Other kernel versions of Oracle Linux Server 6.x may be affected as well. The list above contains the kernel versions that produced the issue in Acronis test lab.

Agent installation or update on CentOS 5.x fails with:

Cannot find package dkms

Issue in the product, caused by RPM signing/signatures checking issues in RHEL/CentOS5 version.

This issue is fixed in Acronis Cyber Cloud 9.0.

Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud uses Resumable Backup technology which reduces network load and therefore enhances backup performance.

Resumable Backup means that in case of a backup failure data upload will be resumed, i.e.:

You installed Acronis Cyber Protect Agent on a Linux or Mac system

The following alert is shown for the machine with the agent for Linux or Mac:

Cyber Protection (or Active Protection) service is not responding

Active Protection Service is not responding. Please restart the machine or contact your administrator/

Issue in the product.

You want to installed Acronis Agent on a machine. During installation, you are notified that R1Soft backup software is already installed on the machine and installation cannot proceed.

Acronis Agent and R1Soft backup software cannot be installed on one machine because of Acronis snapAPI and hcpdriver conflict.

R1Soft backup software needs to be uninstalled before installing Acronis Agent.

You updated a Linux agent to v9.0 (build 21780 and higher) from an earlier version.

Scheduled backups are running properly.

Alert "Backup did not start" appears in console despite properly running backups.

Issue in the product.

The issue is caused by the differences in behavior for version 8.0 scheduling and transfer of the records to the 9.0 scheduler service in Linux.

This issue will be fixed in future versions of the product.

This article looks at troubleshooting hardware resources overuse with Acronis products.

In general, performance is constantly being optimized, so updating to the latest build is always recommended for the best performance of backup and other operations.

First of all check out the general system requirements to make sure that the hardware usage in your particular scenario is actually outside the normal operating parameters of our product.

As a service provider using Acronis Cyber Cloud solution you can have a hybrid storage organized for storing backups (such as Acronis Cyber Infrastructure/Acronis Storage or Acronis Backup Gateway).

There may be a situation requiring you to re-register the hybrid storage and/or update its certificate chain. Below are instructions on how to perform this operation for different versions of Acronis Cyber Infrastructure/Acronis Storage.

Acronis Scheduler is a tool which is responsible for scheduled Acronis operations. If scheduled backups or other activities do not work as configured in backup plan or task, proceed with this article in order to identify the root cause and solve the issue if possible.

Acronis services to use for upload and download of large amounts of data to cloud

Backing up and restoring large amounts of data to a cloud storage over a slow Internet connection is time-consuming. To help backup service users in these cases, we at Acronis have designed special services for initial upload and download of large amounts of data. These services help end users save time and network traffic by sending the data to the cloud data center on a hard drive or request a hard drive with their backups from the data center.

This article applies to Linux OS.
