Using Acronis Backup in a multihomed environment

Symptoms

You attempt to refresh content of vault in Cyber Protection console by pressing Refresh button. Operation fails with error message similar to (Vault ID and archive ID will be different):

You get the following error messages when attempting to use a backup location with deduplication as backup destination:

There is an error in the hash database

and

Database disk image is malformed

Cause

Deduplication database is corrupted, due to hardware issues with the storage or other reasons.

Solution

Rebuild the deduplication database by following the steps below:

Symptoms

  1. You created a managed location on Acronis Storage Node and saved a backup to it.
  2. You edited the managed location and renamed it.
  3. When you try to delete a backup from the renamed location, operation fails with:

Unknown location <old vault name>

How to upgrade tape vaults from Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 to Acronis Backup and Recovery 11

Symptoms

You have created a managed location with a network share as backend.

Credentials for this network share have changed, or you just want to switch to another user.

Solution

To change credentials for the managed location on the network share, delete the location and add it again with new credentials:

Symptoms

The used space of the backup location with Deduplication option enabled is seen incorrect via the product GUI:

Cause

Issue in the product. The backup location contains the tib files and the datastore files (unified_data.ds.0 or unified_data.ds.1 files). These datastore files contains the main backed up data and the sizes of these files are not counted.
