Slow backup

This article applies to:

  • Acronis Backup for VMware (Acronis vmProtect)

Introduction

The article describes the troubleshooting steps to investigate slow backup issues.

This article looks at troubleshooting performance issues in Acronis True Image.

In general, performance is constantly being optimized, so updating to the latest build is always recommended for the best performance of backup and other operations. Always make sure you are troubleshooting performance issues with the latest build of the product (if it is possible).

This article looks at troubleshooting performance problems of the different sub-tasks and operations involved in running a backup plan: backup, replication, validation, recovery etc.

Performance depends on a lot of factors. For example, it could be hardware limitations that cannot be fixed without changing the hardware or the product under-performing due to conflicts with the system which have to be fixed by Acronis development. So it is important to make sure the performance bottleneck is understood exactly. This article aims to help you do just that.

Symptoms

You notice that the disks in your Acronis Cyber Infrastructure are running out of free space and want to expand them or you get "Not enough space on <disk>" alerts.

The affected disks can be in the 'Out of space' status and marked yellow or in 'Failed' with no free space on them and marked red (UI displaying may differ depending on ACI version).
