Registry

There are two registry tweaks specific to Windows 2003 servers which will improve performance under certain conditions. These changes are recommended for our customers who have:

  • A large number of files shared out.
  • Folders containing a lot of items (browsing large folders).
  • A lot of users or if the server is under heavy load.
  • Background processes that monitor the file system for changes such as Windows Search.

Sometimes it may be useful to change Acronis Agent for Exchange default behavior to achieve better results in specific environments.

Disable backup validation

HKLM\Software\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ArxAgent: DisableBackupValidation (dword: {0|1}, by default 0)

This parameter disables validation of the Exchange backup data (integrity of the database files and transaction log files). Disabling backup validation may be useful in the following cases:

Changing the default catalog database folders for Acronis Storage Node, Acronis Management Server, and Acronis Agent

You will need to delete keys and strings from Windows registry to remove Acronis SnapAPI drivers

Introduction

When running Acronis Cyber Files in single port configuration mode, the maximum number of characters in a folder path in the Web Client is limited. By adding/changing a registry setting, you can increase this limit.

Creating backups from MS Exchange using the Acronis Exchange Agent causes log entries in PowerShell. This can be solved by deleting the PowerShell subkey under Event Log in Windows Registry.

Symptoms

Backup fails with the following message:

Windows error: (0x800703FA) Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion

How to capture Windows registry

Symptoms

  • After agent uninstallation, a new record is created in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations
  • There is an application in the path C:/Windows/Temp called "cyber_cloud_uninstaller_wl_enterprise.exe".
  • As a result, you may have issues with installation or update of other software (SQL, Exchange, etc) because of the pending reboot.

Cause

AcronisInfo is a utility that automatically gathers User Rights Assignment list, Windows Event Log, Msinfo32, Acronis registry keys, Acronis logs, Acronis Scheduler report, Acronis Disks Report and list of user’s Active Directory groups

Process Monitor is a special Windows Sysinternals monitoring utility. It is used to diagnose certain software and compatibility issues.
