Either use a web browser different from Internet Explorer to access the Web Console to fix the issue, or troubleshoot the network issues/investigate the particualr SMTP server configuration

Acronis Backup can be set up to notify you by e-mail about backup and recovery task successful completion, failure or when user interaction in required.

E-mail notifications are not available in Acronis Bootable Media.

Solution

Set up SMTP relay in your Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/Exchange 2010 as described in Microsoft Exchange Team Blog: Allowing application servers to relay off Exchange Server 2007.

To set up e-mail notifications:

Uncheck the "Log on to incoming mail server" option

Make sure that you provided correct user name and password

Symptoms

You receive an e-mail notification with backup log, containing one or multiple lines with "Volume Tracker has failed to find changes on volume..."

Example:

2018-12-20T09:00:10:378-04:00 10916 I000101F8: Pending operation 173 started: 'Creating partition image'.

 

2018-12-20T09:00:11:190-04:00 10916 I00100000: Volume Tracker has failed to find changes on volume '\\?\Volume{5e2aeab2-ffb3-4dab-8444-54635f6a3367}\'.

You receive an email notification about a failed backup.

You check Acronis True Image user interface and all indicates that all backups have completed successfully :

  • green check box is displayed on each backup
  • backup completion confirmation is displayed under Activity tab for each backup
  • a new recovery point under Recovery tab is added as date and time of a successful backup (right upper corner)

Acronis products support only TRAP operations

  1. You set up e-mail notifications to Yahoo or to Outlook/Live/Hotmail in Windows version of Acronis True Image.
  2. Sending e-mail notifications fails with error message "An unknown error has occurred" or "Authentication failed".

Introduction

Email notifications can be set up in two ways:

1) per backup task (Windows only)

and/or

2) universally for all existing and future backup tasks (Windows, Mac)

Per-backup notifications are more configurable, but are more complicated to set up.

Global notifications are easy to enable, but are less informative.

The subject of the E-mail shows the full operation log

Symptoms

  1. You set up e-mail notifications to Gmail.
  2. Sending e-mail notifications fails with:
    Authentication failed

Solution

From May 30, 2022, Google no longer supports the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password. As a result, the option Less secure apps doesn’t exist anymore, and the configuration procedure was completely changed.
