If there are both ShadowProtect and Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Agent for Windows installed on the same machine and you back up with VSS enabled, the incremental and differential backups will be of the same size as the full ones
Incremental
When booted from WinPE-based Acronis Bootable Media Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 always creates full backup archive instead of incremental or differential
Trying to append an incremental or differential backup in Windows/Linux to the one created from Acronis Bootable Media will produce a full backup. The same is true for a vice versa operation
This is an issue in Graphical User Interface and can be safely ignored
A third-party program truncates Microsoft Exchange Server logs
By deleting the ".meta" folder you remove the meta information about the backup
To restore from the incremental backup, browse to it from the product GUI
Acronis True Image Echo has the capability to consolidate backup files (create a consistent copy of archive while deleting selected backups)
This is a known limitation
This has been fixed
Replace the StructuredBackup.dll library with the one that has the fix to solve the issue
Avoid mounting in read/write mode several partitions from one backup archive at the same time in Linux. Also avoid mounting one partition to several directories at the same time in Linux. This will corrupt the incremental slices
This is a known issue
As a workaround, install Acronis Agent for Linux in the Linux virtual machine
Keep a copy of your backup archive in the virtual machine format ready for instant recovery
Update the statistics manually
Create a new backup plan to create backup of different type
An incremental backup created after a previous backup in the chain has been edited in the read/write mode will not have the changes of the edited backup
The issue has been fixed, please upgrade to Acronis Backup 11.5 (Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5). This an issue with filtering information when browsing. On restore, the correct files are recovered
Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 and Recovery for Microsoft Exchange cannot create an incremental backup of an Information Store or Storage Group in Circular Logging mode
Introduction
Acronis True Image 2020 introduced a new backup format - .tibx, which is even more reliable and convenient. The .tibx format is used for disk backups created to internal drives, external drives, network storage.
One of the main changes in this new backup format is that the .tibx format saves full and differential backup versions as separate files, while incremental backup versions are automatically merged into their base full backups.
Description
In what way full, differential and incremental backups differ from each other
Incremental convert to virtual machine recovers only changes that were backed up since the last machine update: Acronis Backup and Recovery 11 updates the virtual machine instead of recreating it. This can be used during automated conversion of an incremental or differential backup to a virtual machine on a virtualization server.
This functionality is available for the following virtualization platforms:
Introduction
If you want to run your backups manually and have the ability to choose what type of backup to create when the task is run, you can select the necessary backup scheme and switch off scheduling.
Solution
Follow the steps below to set up a custom backup scheme, including differential and/or incremental backups:
Incremental or differential backups are larger when performed after disk defragmentation or full restore
Symptoms
- You have set up a Disks backup. The initial backup (and the following incremental backups, if any) worked correctly
- You install an upgrade to macOS.
- When you try to run an incremental backup after macOS upgrade, the operation fails with:
The last backup has failed. No current partition
Cause
macOS upgrade changed the unique volume identifier for the source disk, while the backup task configuration still refers to the old volume identifier.
