Encryption

All the communications and data transfers between the components of the product are SSL-encrypted

To create a consistent image of an encrypted partition it has to be done in sector-by-sector mode

The problem is in incorrect SSL certificate generation for intercomponent connections of Acronis products. As workaround, try disabling SSL encryption

Acronis Storage Node does not support swapped drives. Managed vaults should only be created in permanent locations

This has been fixed. Upgrade to Acronis vmProtect 7

Acronis Secure Zone cannot be created on a disk protected with low-level encryption software

After restoring a disk encrypted with Check Point software, the partitions on it may become inaccessible

In some cases Norman Endpoint Protection deletes Acronis drivers' files

Acronis True Image either cannot mount an image, when there is Utimaco SafeGuard Easy installed, or Acronis True Image hangs after mounting/unmounting an image. Restoring the backup may also decrypt the data

Acronis True Image inadvertently reboots the machine when run if there is File Securer installed

Rebuild MBR after restoring the disk encrypted with McAfee

Summary:

When using the TCP/IP Secure communication method between two MassTransit entities, the following error message may result, following a failed connection attempt: TCP/IP Secure reports: error: 1408A0C1:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:no shared cipher

Some metadata is stored unencrypted in an encrypted archive

You get a stop error (BSOD, "blue screen of death") Acronis True Image 2019 and VeraCrypt are installed on the same system

All communications between agents and Acronis Storage Node are encrypted (SSL protocol). To disable encryption and increase backup speed, especially on fast networks (10Gb+) please use this manual.

Do not disable SSL if one of the following conditions is met:

Acronis Backup software may conflict with disk-level encryption software

Frequently asked questions

Q: Does Acronis True Image support BitLocker-encrypted disks?
A: Yes

Symptoms:

You have enabled encryption for a backup archive while creating a new backup plan. When you attempt to access the backup archive and enter the encryption password, the following error message appears: "The password for the protected backup is incorrect":

This article covers a quick way to figure out which encryption algorithm was used in a protection plan

To back up the system encrypted with BitLocker you will need to create an image from Windows

Introduction

Acronis Cyber Infrastructure 5.4 release introduces the new feature "Data-in-transit encryption"

This feature protects against network eavesdropping and traffic hijacking for data transferred between cluster nodes covering Storage, Management, and Compute services. It also allows deployment of Acronis Cyber Infrastructure in environments without control over network equipment.
