If Primary Domain Controller of Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory goes down and Backup Domain controller automatically takes over, then Active Directory will be out of Sync after Primary Domain Controller is restored from a backup

This article describes, how to install Acronis Backup successfully on a Microsoft Windows Read-Only Domain Controller.

Before installing the product on a read-only domain controller (RODC), log on to the primary (writeable) domain controller and perform one or more of the following steps, depending on which components you are installing on the read-only domain controller:

Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) is a hardware mechanism that allows software to communicate with Serial ATA devices and allows the storage driver to enable advanced Serial ATA features.

Acronis products support AHCI drives in Windows and in Acronis Bootable Media. There is no need to add special drivers for AHCI support.

Symptoms

  1. You are installing Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced on a read-only domain controller (RODC);
  2. The installation fails;
  3. In the installation log there is a message similar to the following one:
    • If you selected to use an existing user for Acronis services:

      AddUserToLocalGroup: add user 'DOMAIN\administrator' to the group ''Backup Operators' failed with error '' (1313720)

Symptoms

  1. You are installing Acronis Agent for Windows on a read-only domain controller (RODC);
  2. The installation fails;
  3. In the installation log there is a message similar to the following one:
    • If you selected to use an existing user for Acronis services:

      AddUserToLocalGroup: add user 'DOMAIN\administrator' to the group ''Backup Operators' failed with error '' (1313720)

The reason is that the backup was created with disabled VSS support
