This article describes how to change the delay time and key for starting Acronis Startup Recovery Manager.

Introduction

This article explains how to resolve a problem, when Windows does not boot and snapman.sys is mentioned on the blue screen (BSOD), after an attempt to uninstall or force remove Acronis software.

Symptom

BSOD during computer bootup related to snapman.sys after removal of Acronis software. Windows does not boot in normal or safe mode.

Symptoms

With release of Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 the new format of Hyper-V is introduced. It is named Hyper-V 3.

  1. You have prepared a virtual machine in Hyper-V 3 format;
  2. You want to run a deployment task to this machine and you are using the PXE boot method;
  3. During the boot of the virtual machine via PXE you encounter a very slow boot operation.

Cause

This is an issue in product.

Solution

To work around this issue, use boot ISO file attached to the virtual machine.

Symptoms

  1. You have an HP computer in UEFI mode
  2. You try to restore a system backup or perform a different operation with Acronis True Image that requires reboot
  3. After reboot, the system boots directly to Windows. Acronis True Image does not start in boot mode and the recovery/other operation is not performed

Cause

HP computers in UEFI mode use a specific boot order that overrides Acronis Loader.

Solution

As a workaround, change the boot order manually:

When you turn on the computer, Acronis bootable environment starts up unexpectedly instead of Windows.

Acronis Startup Recovery Manager was not activated or used.

You can restore Windows Boot Loader manually using Windows utilities

Additional parameters that can be applied prior to booting Linux kernel

Introduction

If your Mac includes the Apple T2 chip, then you need to modify Secure Boot settings in order to boot from Acronis Bootable Rescue Media and/or Acronis Survival Kit.

Solution

Secure Boot settings are available in Startup Security Utility:

If your computer does not boot or you have a new computer without any operating system installed on it, you can boot your computer with Acronis bootable media. The bootable media is a USB flash drive or a CD with Acronis software on it. This way, you can recover from a backup in case your computer does not boot anymore.

How to create a bootable USB

All current versions of Acronis software can create bootable USB flash drives. We recommend creating a bootable media in advance.
