Introduction

Acronis True Image 2020 introduced new and improved backup format, .tibx file. The .tibx format is used for disk backups created to internal drives, external drives, network storage.

One of the changes in the new backup format is that incremental backups are written to the same file as the full backup, until the next full backup is created - compared to previous versions of Acronis True Image where a separate .tib file was produced each time the backup was run.

Due to the fact that all incremental backups are written to the same .tibx file as the full or differential backup that they are appended to, it may be hard to evaluate how many backups were created and how many restore points are available. 

How to see available backup versions?

Method 1: Recovery tab.

You can observe the available backup versions (restore points), corresponding to the number of times the backup job was run, under the Recovery tab in Acronis True Image interface: select the backup for which you want to check the recovery points and select Recovery tab at the top. Version drop-down displays points in time when backups were created.

To see backup types (full, incremental, differential), use the second method described below.

Method 2. "Clean up versions..." dialog.

The number of backups, their creation time and type (full, incremental or differential) can be viewed using Clean up versions... backup context menu option:

By default, the last differential or full backup, and newer incrementals are displayed, and older backups are collapsed. To see all the versions, click on the arrow key:

Clean up backup versions dialog lists available backups, their creation time, size and type (full, differential or incremental):

Click Close to close the dialog window without deleting any backups.
