Remove Acronis Storage Node from Acronis Management Server and add it back to fix the issue

It is not recommended to use disk defragmentation if you back up to the Acronis online storage and the disks are of considerable size.

If you run disk defragmentation after creating a disk/partition backup, the succeeding incremental backup will roughly be the size of the full backup. For detailed information please see Acronis Backup Software Creates Large Incremental or Differential Backup Archives.

To solve the issue, exclude managed vault and deduplication database from the antivirus scan

To restore from an unmanaged vault, browse to the network share or local folder where the archive is. To restore from a centralized managed vault, click on Storage node, type in the IP Addres or computer name of the machine where Acronis Storage Node is

Acronis Storage Node contains catalogs for all managed vaults on this Acronis Storage Node.

Default path:

  • Windows XP/2003: Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ASN\Catalog
  • Windows Vista/7/2008/2008 R2: ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\ASN\Catalog

To change the default folder, do the following:

Database disk image is malformed

Cause

Deduplication database is corrupted, due to hardware issues with the storage or other reasons.

Solution

Rebuild the deduplication database by following the steps below:

Symptoms

You have registered an account and specified your backup storage (Partner-owned backup storage). You have registered a machine in that account and run a backup to the specified storage. Later, you have changed the storage in the account settings and removed the old storage.

All backups running to this new storage fail. In PCS logs you will see errors like:
