The differential and incremental backups are automatically deleted only when the full backup is deleted

Acronis True Image for Mac uses an "always incremental" archive meaning there is physically one file in the archive location while the incremental changes are written to this file directly as opposed to older formats where incremental changes were written into individual files in the backup location.

  1. Connect to Management Console, and go to Backups tab, and then Locations

Symptoms

You receive the following error when browsing recovery points for a backup:

Failed to resolve the backup. The specified file does not exist.

If you check the backup location, the first volume of the archive is missing.

E.g. a complete set of archive volumes looks like this

Symptoms

  1. You have a backup plan with replication. Backup format is set to Automatic selection in Backup options.
  2. The resulting archive is in Version 11 format as the original archive was created by older product version
  3. After the archive is deleted in original location, replication fails with the following error:

    Cannot use this type of backup archive.

Acronis Backup 12.5 currently does not support simplified naming.
