Symptoms

You backup files and/or folders on an SMB network share.

Backup finishes with a warning:

No such file or directory

This article applies only in case when backup succeeds with warning. If backup fails with error "No such file or directory" the issue should be investigated separately.

Cause

When backup job starts, Acronis Cyber Backup enumerates data on backup source, before the backup process itself begins. Since file backup on SMB share is done without snapshot, files are backed up one by one. If some files were present on the source during enumeration, but are not available during backup itself (e.g. file or folder was deleted while backup was running), these files are skipped and No such file or directory warning is generated.

Backup Agent always produces a warning if some of the data wasn't backed up. Look in the error details and check the file/folder after path: , e.g.:

Error code: 65521
Fields: {"$module":"disk_bundle_lxa64_14800","code":2,"function":"pcs_sync_stat","path":"/run/.mnt_net_smb_E98F47G23-081B-456B-B771-3C71A9D48AD1/AcronisBackup/Files/Test_file.doc"}
Message: No such file or directory

If this file/folder is not present on the source, then this warning is expected behavior. In most cases it can be safely ignored.

To prevent this warning please avoid deleting data on backup source while backup task is running.
