43091: Acronis Backup Software: 32-Bit UEFI Devices Support Limitation

Last update: 20-08-2020

32-bit UEFI is supported by the following Acronis products and all newer versions:

Acronis Backup 11.7 (all editions)

Acronis Snap Deploy 5 Update 1

Acronis True Image 2017

In older and other products, there is a limitation on using Acronis products on devices with 32-bit UEFI. It is possible to protect only non-system, non-locked files, partitions with Acronis software on 32-bit UEFI devices. An example of such devices are tablets with Intel® Atom™ Processor Z2760, which is 32-bit only.

Any other operation that requires reboot or using Acronis bootable environment will fail:

1) Acronis PXE, Acronis Startup Recovery Manager

2) recovering a system partition, system, or other locked files from Acronis product running within Windows

3) creating a bootable media is possible using the Acronis Custom Bootable Media Builder Community Tool, refer to this article for details

However, you can still backup and restore files, folders and partitions that are not locked by the system or other applications. It is possible because such operations will not use Acronis bootable environment.

The reason for the limitation is that Acronis UEFI loader is an x86_64 UEFI application and requires 64-bit UEFI environment to run in.
