*You can install Windows Agent on EFI-based system and do the backup. Bootable media does not support EFI-based machine, contact Acronis Support with request for a custom bootable media.

(!) Other Acronis products do not support systems with Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI). This includes Windows running via Boot Camp and any Linux System (x32 and x64).

Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 can back up and recover operating systems if they are installed in BIOS/MBR mode, even if they run on EFI-capable servers.

The following operating systems are UEFI-aware and can be installed on UEFI systems:

  • Windows Vista x64 SP1 and later
  • Windows 2008 x64 SP1 and later
  • Windows 7 x64
  • Windows 8/8.1
  • Windows 10
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 x64
  • Windows Server 2012/2012R2
  • Windows Server 2016

The following operating systems are always installed in MBR mode, and do not support EFI:

  • Windows Server 2000, 2003
