Licenses are subscription-based, valid for 1, 3, or 5 years.*

Acronis Cyber Protect 15 is a solution intended for small to medium business and enterprise environments. For home users, we recommend Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office (formerly Acronis True Image). Acronis Cyber Protect 15 is recommended for home environment in case you need more than 5TB of Cloud storage.

A license is required for every machine or physical host that you want to backup. In the case when the product is used on a cluster, each node of the cluster must be licensed.

Subscription period starts on subscription license purchase date.

When adding a new subscription license key to the ones already registered in the account, you will be offered a choice:

• to increase quotas, or
• to  renew the current subscription

After choosing "Increase" or "Renew" quota, you will see the preview of how quota / expiration date will be re-calculated. Changes will be applied after clicking on Register button.

Please note that after registering the subscription in the Account, to apply the changes in on-premises console, you need to click Sync button (Login to account is required).

Acronis Cyber Protect 15 Essentials edition includes basic file-level backup capabilities and essential cyber protection features, such as antivirus and antimalware protection, vulnerability assessment, patch management, and URL filtering.

Acronis Cyber Protect 15 Essentials edition is available for the following workload types:

• Workstation
• Server

(!) Acronis Cyber Protect 15 Essentials edition is not available for Windows Server Essentials workload. Acronis Cyber Protect 15 Essentials for Server may be used instead.

You only need one license for your virtual host. Acronis Cyber Protect (Advanced) 15 Virtual Host license includes unlimited number of virtual machines running on the target host, protection of the target host itself, as well as protection for applications running on those virtual machines or on the host.

Cloud deployment means that the management server is located in one of the Acronis data centers. The benefit of this approach is that you do not need to maintain the management server in your local network. This type of deployment is available only for subscription licenses and at the moment does not include some features of the Advanced edition. This type of deployment is recommended if you have a Mac-only environment or a single Mac to back up (since Management Server cannot be installed on a Mac).

On-premises deployment means that all of the product components are installed in your local network. You have to use this method if your machines are not connected to the Internet.

For Microsoft 365, Acronis Cyber Protect is licensed per protected seat. The following 1, 3 and 5-year subscription packages are available:

• Acronis Cyber Protect - Backup Advanced Microsoft 365 Subscription License: 5, 25 or 100 seats

You can combine these licenses for protection of any number of seats – for example, you can get one 100-seats license, three 25-seat licenses, and two 5-seat licenses, and protect a total of 185 seats (100x1+25x3+5x2).

(!) If you use Cloud deployment of Acronis Cyber Protect and run C2C backup, then Acronis Cloud Storage add-on is necessary for storing Microsoft 365 backups.

One seat refers to either an Microsoft 365 user or a shared mailbox. Please note that one seat for an O365 user covers all O365 apps they use. To back up SharePoint Online only, one seat is required.

5 users using Exchange Online and OneDrive for Business + 1 shared mailbox = 6 seats
20 users using Exchange Online + 1 shared mailbox = 21 seats
100 users using Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business + 1 SharePoint Online site + 1 shared mailbox = 101 seats

Yes, Acronis Cyber Protect 15 Microsoft 365 backup is available in both cloud and on-premises consoles.

For Google Workspace( G Suite), Acronis Cyber Protect is licensed per protected seat. The following 1, 3 and 5-year subscription packages are available:

• Acronis Cyber Protect - Backup Advanced Google Workspace Subscription License: 5, 25 and 100 seats

You can combine these licenses for protection of any number of seats – for example, you can get one 100-seats license, three 25-seat licenses, and two 5-seat licenses, and protect a total of 185 seats (100x1+25x3+5x2).

(!) Google Workspace backup is only available in Cloud deployment of Acronis Cyber Protect 15 and Acronis Cloud Storage add-on is required for storing Google Workspace backups.

No, Acronis Cyber Cyber Protect 15 Google Workspace backup is currently available only in cloud console.

Acronis Cloud Storage is a storage option that saves backups to safe and secure Acronis Data Centers. Acronis Cloud Storage licenses are subscription-based and depend on the storage capacity levels. You can save backups from an unlimited number of machines and any type of platform to cloud storage, including mobile device backups. The quota is shared among all the devices registered in the account.

(!) Note that in order to use Acronis Cloud Storage you need at least one Acronis Cyber Protect 15 license.

Backup of mobile devices is enabled once an Acronis Cloud Storage quota is registered in the account. You can back up unlimited number of mobile devices as long as Acronis Cloud Storage quota suffices.

To use Acronis Cyber Protect and to manage your licenses and their usage, you need an Acronis account. All your licenses and management servers are activated online and registered to that online account.

To activate an offline management server, you need a second machine that has access to the Internet.

If you have a large number of licenses (4000 and more), Acronis recommends initially performing Management Server activation through a file (offline activation) instead of the regular online activation. Activation through a file is less dependent on the internet connection quality and speed and allows multiple registration attempts in case of processing errors.

Direct upgrade path is available only for Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 Update 4 or higher: Acronis Cyber Protect 15 installer will upgrade the product directly during installation. For earlier versions, it is recommended to either uninstall the previous version before installing Acronis Cyber Protect 15, or update the currently installed version to Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 Update 4 in order to preserve configuration, settings and plans.

However, in most cases, your existing backup archives are still compatible.

To perform an upgrade, you need to have an upgrade license. If you have a valid maintenance or an active subscription license, you can get a free upgrade license in your Acronis account, under the license you registered.

If you don't have a valid maintenance for your perpetual license, you can either renew it in order to get a free upgrade, or purchase a new Acronis Cyber Protect 15 license.

Yes. Acronis Cyber Protect 15 Management Server supports Agents from v.12.5. You can upgrade Agents gradually and continue to manage Agents from older version with the new Management Server.

You can only downgrade perpetual Backup Advanced licenses to Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5. Downgrading versions earlier than 12.5 is not available.

(!) Only full purchased licenses can be downgraded. If Acronis Cyber Protect 15 license was received as a free upgrade from an earlier version, it cannot be downgraded to Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5.

Perpetual licenses can be downgraded via Acronis Account:

• Open the products page on your account
• Locate Acronis Cyber Protect 15 and choose the license edition you want to downgrade:

Please note that if your previous product is installed on one of the following operating systems, upgrade to Acronis Cyber Protect 15 will not be possible as they are no longer supported:

•  Windows 2000 (agent). There's no way to upgrade the agent installed on Windows 2000, neither use it with an upgraded management server. You can perform a backup by means of bootable media, though.
• 32-bit operating systems (Acronis Management Server, Acronis Storage Node). There's no direct upgrade for Management Server and Storage Node installed on a 32-bit system.

Yes, you can use different types of licenses in the same environment.

Please note that perpetual licenses are no longer available for purchase. Existing perpetual licenses continue to work and are eligible for support.

Archives created by earlier versions of Acronis Cyber Backup are compatible with Acronis Cyber Protect 15.

Note that starting from version 12.5 Acronis Cyber Backup uses a new generation archive format - TIBX. There's no possibility to export a backup from an old archive format to TIBX and vice versa.

To convert your trial version to a full license:

• Register your new license keys in your Acronis Account
• Open the Acronis Management Console
• Open Settings->Licenses
• Click Sync to proceed with the license synchronization. The appropriate licenses are automatically assigned to the relevant agents; you do not need to reinstall or reconfigure the agents.

Select licenses depending on the operating system the product is installed on and features you'll be using. For more information see Acronis Cyber Protect Product Comparison and Acronis Cyber Protect 15 licensing.

After you added licenses to Management Server, they should be assigned to the machines that you want to backup.

There are two ways to assign licenses:

1) A license is automatically assigned to a machine when a backup plan is applied

2) You can also assign licenses manually:

• In Console, go to Settings -> Licenses
• Click on the icon of the license that you want to assign
• The software displays the license keys that correspond to the selected license

• Select the key to assign and click Assign

• The software displays the list of machines that the selected key can be assigned to. Select the machine, and click Done

After you added licenses to Management Server, click Sync to synchronize subscription licenses to Acronis Account (you will need to sign in to Acronis Account if you haven't signed in before). Once the license key is synchronized with Acronis Account subscription license is activated automatically. Upon activation, the subscription expiration date is defined and you can use the product within the subscription period. 

Starting from Update 3 (Build 28035) Acronis Cyber Protect uses centralized license management in the cloud console. If the machine with Management Server has no Internet access, license activation can be performed by exporting licensing information to a registration file and synching the information to Acronis account from a device with Internet connection.

3. Click the resource covered by the license.
4. Serial number is displayed.
