How Acronis True Image Server for Linux works with software RAIDs (md-devices)

The driver does not work with customized Linux kernel, which is used in Acronis products. This is applies to all Promise FastTrak controllers that have Vendor ID 0x105a

When running in Windows Acronis product supports all RAID arrays Windows has drivers for. The standalone version of Acronis products supports most of RAID arrays.

If Acronis Bootable Media of Acronis vmProtect 6 does not detect your physical machine's RAID disks, it will corrupt the RAID

Changing RAID configuration (e.g. RAID-1 to RAID-5) without changing RAID controller does not require using Acronis Universal Restore

Acronis Bootable Media does not support Broadcom HT1000 RAID. There are no open source drivers for Linux kernel.

It recommended to use Acronis Universal Restore to deploy the image of a Windows system to a machine with different hardware

When a member of a RAID 5 volume fails, the operating system directs the reading and writing all of new data to the remaining members of the volume. A single member failure will not result in data loss, but reduces overall performance of a RAID 5 volume. Repairing a RAID 5 volume restores its performance by reconstructing the data of the failed member on another disk.

Here is a screenshot of a failed RAID 5 volume in Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced Server and in Windows Disk Management:

This is a Windows Server 2003 specific issue. As a workaround, resync the disks in Windows Disk Management
