Copying from a partition that is created with Extended Capacity Manager is slow
There are two registry tweaks specific to Windows 2003 servers which will improve performance under certain conditions. These changes are recommended for our customers who have:
- A large number of files shared out.
- Folders containing a lot of items (browsing large folders).
- A lot of users or if the server is under heavy load.
- Background processes that monitor the file system for changes such as Windows Search.
There are two methods to back up: on database level or on brick level
Instructions on how to troubleshoot and resolve installation issues.
This article applies to:
- Acronis Backup for VMware (Acronis vmProtect)
Always make sure you are troubleshooting installation issues with the latest build of the product (if it is possible).
Follow these steps to troubleshoot installation issues:
This article describes factors that affect MassTransit performance, including CPU utilization, effects of compression on performance and TCP/IP network performance.
Clients suffer from extremely slow performance (up to 8 times slower) when browsing or performing read/write operations against Windows 2003 Servers (SP1 or above).
The problem has been reported with Broadcom and other NIC Cards which are TOE (TCP Offload Engine) enabled.
Acronis Files Connect (formerly ExtremeZ-IP)
Mac clients connected to a EZIP share suffers slow performance compared to SMB.
We have received reports from some users of Acronis Files Connect (formerly ExtremeZ-IP) running Symantec Corporate Antivirus that their server performance may degrade over time and hang the server. If you are running Symantec Corporate Antivirus - please consider updating the SYMEVNT.SYS file to the latest version.
Steps to Reproduce:
Install Symantec Corporate Antivirus and Acronis Files Connect on the same server.
A bug in the Symantec Corporate Antivirus Symevent files.
On the machine where the Acronis Management Server Service itself is running, you can see that it generates a constant high CPU overload. In some environments higher network usage is also seen. To solve this issue, you should delete content of specific folders and change registry values
When Acronis Management Server demonstrates symptoms of malfunction it may be useful to check whether its performance is in accordance with expected behavior.
Any of the following symptoms may serve as trigger to apply the proposed solution:
Mac OS X Client Symptoms:
- Slow browsing on a specific Volume or folder
- Finder may hang on a specific Volume or folder
- Mac OS may hang on a specific Volume or folder
You can optimize energy consumption, network load and backup performance in Acronis products by adjusting multiple settings including performance, backup compression, backup start time and others. This article provides you with details on these settings.
The initial backup speed might be slower than expected when backing up to Cloud for the first time.
This article describes how to troubleshoot performance issues with Acronis Backup Command line tool.
- You have prepared a virtual machine in Hyper-V 3.0 format ( this format was introduced with the release of Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012);
- You want to run a deployment task to this machine and you boot the machine from PXE server;
- During the boot of the virtual machine via PXE, booting is very slow.
Issue in the product.
To work around this issue, use boot ISO file attached to the virtual machine.
Acronis Cyber Infrastructure (ACI) is a storage cluster, a group of servers (nodes) interconnected by the network, thus it is vital to follow the Network Requirements during cluster infrastructure planning.
As overall storage cluster performance always depends on network performance between all cluster nodes, it may be required to measure network throughput to pinpoint the network issues or estimate maximum possible throughput between the nodes. iPerf3 is a command-line tool for performing network throughput measurements which may be used as a part of network troubleshooting.
A third-party application runs slowly if Acronis True Image is installed.
Only those applications are affected, whose executable files (.exe) do not have a valid digital signature, AND modify a lot of files in a small period of time as part of its normal work.
To check if an executable file has a valid digital signature or not, follow the steps below:
Freeware utility to check hard disk performance
On a Terminal server, Cyber Protection Monitor, TIB Mounter and Scheduler Service Helper are started for each user session. This causes high usage of resources, especially CPU.
Specifics of current product design.
Disable or uninstall Cyber Protection Monitor: this will reduce amount of used resources.
To uninstall Cyber Protection Monitor:
When an external drive is connected to the machine, Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office\Acronis True Image is very slow during and after launch, every click between the tabs or options takes several seconds. A "Not responding" message may appear.
The most common reason is a faulty external drive. The reading operation of old/corrupted/improperly connected disks may take a while and this affects Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office\Acronis True Image UI performance.
The Antivirus and Antimalware protection module allows you to protect your machines from all recent malware threats. However, is can sometimes affect performance of the system or of other software. Please report these issues to Acronis, so that we can investigate and adjust our software.
