Instructions on how to troubleshoot and resolve vSphere snapshot issues in Acronis Cyber Backup products

Expand All / Hide All

This article applies to:

  1. You have a Windows VM with dynamic disks.
  2. You create an agentless backup of this VM using Virtual Appliance.
  3. When you check the backup archive contents, you notice that drive letters are displayed incorrectly.

Symptoms

You are using Agent for VMware or Agent for Hyper-V or Agent for Scale Computing HC3 (in Acronis Cyber Protect 15) to protect virtual machines in agentless mode.

In addition to agentless backup, you installed one or several of the following Agents inside a VM:

  • Agent for Windows
  • Agent for Linux
  • Agent for SQL
  • Agent for Exchange

Machine with Agent appears twice in the list of All devices: once as a virtual machine, once as a virtual machine with an agent inside.

Symptoms

  • You are using Microsoft`s Storage Spaces Direct
  • You are trying to preform an agentless backup of a Hyper-V VM
  • The backup fails with: "| error 0x9: There is not enough space in the storage area to create a shadow copy repository file or other shadow copy data."
  • Also other errors regarding VSS are to be expected.
