About

- Consolidation process is a space-consuming operation since it removes initial backups only after the process finishes.

Known Issues
Title | Status |
---|---|
Manual consolidation (converting backup to full) fails when it is started on AMS and the backups are located on unmanaged vault. | Workaround: run Conversion from the agent |
Consolidation is not possible on tape archives. Backups are marked for deletion instead. | This is by design behaviour for backups on tapes |
Troubleshooting
Follow step-by-step instructions below to troubleshoot the issue. Complete prerequisites step before proceeding to error troubleshooting step.
1. Prerequisites
Complete all steps before proceeding to error troubleshooting step.
1.1 Make sure you are facing consolidation problem
When Consolidation is configured in retention rules and it fails then you have to localize the problem to a specific problem. Set retention rules to "delete backup older than 90 days" (or some big number) and run the retention rules. If they fail continue with troubleshooting retetion rules.
1.2 Make sure you have enough space on backup location for consolidation
Consolidation process will consume a lot of space since it will remove consolidated backups only after the process finishes. Free space should be sufficient to write a new full backup.
If all steps above have been executed and issue still persists, go to error troubleshooting step.
2. Error troubleshooting
Complete all steps before proceeding to collect information step.
2.1 Corrupted Archives
Archive contents are read during consolidation and therefore the operation will fail if the archive is corrupted. So please validate the whole archive and refer to Troubleshooting Issues with Corrupt Backups if validation fails.
3. Collect information
Collect following information and contact Acronis Support.
3.1 Step-by-step description of the problem
Provide description of steps that lead to the problem.
3.2 Process Monitor log
Reproduce the problem and collect Process Monitor log during consolidation failure.
3.3 System Report
Acronis True Image 2016: Generating System Report
Collect System Report from the Agent machine, if consolidation fails in an unmanaged or personal vault: see instruction for Acronis Backup 11.7/11.5 Generating System Report, if this fails for any reason, you can use this AcronisInfo Utility.
Collect System Report from the Storage Node, if consolidation fails in a managed vault, see AcronisInfo Utility.
