  1. You have a centralized managed vault created on a disk or tape;
  2. You create a disk/volume backup and as archive location you set the managed vault;
  3. In the backup options you set a password for the archive:

  4. The backup runs successfully;
  5. An attempt to validate the backup fails with an error message similar to the following one:

    Task 'Validation task' failed: 'Failed to validate items
    Additional info:
    Error code: 73
    Module: 39
    LineInfo: e38f4563dfde3ee9
    Fields: IsReturnCode : 1, $module : C:\Program
    Message: Failed to validate items

Validation of backups located in the centralized managed vault is always performed by the special modules of Acronis Storage Node. There is an issue in the product due to which not all the slices of the password-protected disk backup sets can be properly parsed during the validation via Acronis Storage Node - which makes the validation of such backups fail.

This has been fixed and the fix is available in the latest build of the product. See Installation of the latest update of an Acronis product.

To work around the issue without downloading the latest build, you can save the disk backups which you want to be password-protected and validated to unmanaged vaults - this way the validation will be performed on the agent side of each machine creating the backup, and there will be no problems with it.

Alternatively, you can disable the validation of the password-protected disk backups saved to the managed vaults - recovery of these backups from Acronis Storage Node will be still possible when necessary.
