This article describes two ways of creating master image with Acronis Snap Deploy

This article applies to:

  • Acronis Snap Deploy 3 for PCs
  • Acronis Snap Deploy 3 for Servers

In order to deploy a system, you need to create the desired system configuration and create an image of the system hard disk.

There are two main ways to create an image using Acronis Snap Deploy 3: offline imaging using bootable media (or PXE server) and online image with Acronis Snap Deploy Management Agent.

(!) The best practice is to store master images on the OS Deploy Server hard drive. This helps minimize network traffic during deployment.

Offline imaging with bootable Acronis Master Image Creator:

  • Requires master computer reboot;
  • Does not use license from License Server;
  • Does not require installing additional software in master system.

Online imaging with Acronis Snap Deploy Management Agent:

  • Does not require master computer reboot to create an image;
  • Installation of Acronis Snap Deploy Management Agent uses a license from License Server (e.g. if you want to create a master image of Machine_A using Management Agent and deploy it to Machine_B, you will use 2 licenses: one for installation of the Management Agent for master image creation and one for deploying the image; if you create an offline image using bootable media, you will not need a license to create a master image);
  • Convenient for periodic imaging of the same system;
  • Allows you to manage files and execute applications on remote computers after the deployment using Acronis Snap Deploy Management Agent.
