8305: Installation of Acronis Product Fails with "...not a valid Win32 application"

Update and repair Windows Installer to fix the issue

This article applies to:

  • All Acronis products


An attempt to install Acronis software fails with the following error message:

...not a valid Win32 application


Corrupted installation file (e.g. due to incomplete download) or corrupted Windows Installer configuration.


  1. Redownload the latest build of the product. See Downloading the Latest Build of Acronis Software. Check that the installation file is correct and was not corrupted during the download: see How to verify if Acronis installation file has been downloaded correctly
  2. Try updating and repairing Windows Installer. See Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 942288;
  3. Reattempt the installation.

If the solution does not help, try removing security software that you may have and reattempt the installation.
