70546: Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud: Hyper-V VMs are recognized as physical and can't be protected with Virtual machine quotas

Symptoms

  • Customer has Hyper-V virtual machines with agents installed inside
  • After agent update to C22.05 (build 29633), virtual machines are getting recognized as physical machines  instead of virtual 
  • Backup fails with “Protection plan has been revoked due to a licensing issue” if there are not enough Workstation or Server quotas. Otherwise, quota is switched
  • Virtual machine quota (or Virtual Host license in case of Acronis Cyber Protect 15) cannot be assigned anymore.
     

Cause

Issue in the product.

Solution

The issue is fixed in the new agent build: 29695. Please update the affected agents.

After agent update, an icon next to the virtual machine may still point to a physical device . The issue doesn't affect quota assignment, and it will be fixed in one of the nearest releases
