When connected to DeviceLock Service on a remote client with DeviceLock Management Console, an attempt to open Audit Log Viewer gives 'Access is denied' or "The requested operation is not supported" error.
- The errors may indicate that the currently connected user does not have enough privileges to view system event logs.
- There is a known issue with Microsoft Security Updates released on June 8 2021 (or later) for Windows 8.1 & Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 10 & Windows Server 2016. Whenever it is not yet installed on a local (server) or a remote (client) machine, applications that are using certain legacy Event Logging APIs might fail to display event logs information with different errors, for example:
Error 5: access is denied
Error 1764: The requested operation is not supported.
Windows has not provided an error code.
- Make sure that the account used for remote connection is the member of "Event Log Readers" group on the remote machine.
- Install June 8, 2021 or later Security Updates BOTH on the computer(s) with DeviceLock consoles (server) from which you are connecting AND on the remote clients.
