Acronis Snap Deploy 6 is provided as a 64-bit application by default. Acronis Snap Deploy 5 is a 32-bit application, so direct upgrade to 64-bit version is not possible.

Using 64-bit version is recommended to ensure compatibility with other Acronis products such as Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 and/or Acronis Cyber Protect 15.

In order to upgrade you can use one of the following methods:

A) Uninstall Acronis Snap Deploy 5 and install Acronis Snap Deploy 6 64-bit version

  1. During uninstallation, the contents of \ProgramData\Acronis\, including \ProgramData\Acronis\DeployServer\Configs\ folder which contain the deployment templates, are preserved, however as a safety measure, it is recommended to copy the contents of \ProgramData\Acronis\ folder to a safe place before uninstalling the product.
  2. Uninstall Acronis Snap Deploy 5
  3. Run Acronis Snap Deploy 6 installation package and proceed with the installation
  4. Copy the files saved at step 1 back into \ProgramData\Acronis\ if the files are missing

Using this installation method, the following configuration parameters will be preserved and will remain intact:

  • List of managed machines
  • Deployment tasks
  • Deployment templates
  • Licenses consumption

B) Use 32-bit version of Acronis Snap Deploy 6

Download corresponding language version of Acronis Snap Deploy 6 32-bit version:

To upgrade from Acronis Snap Deploy 5, perform the following steps on each machine where any component of Acronis Snap Deploy 5 is installed. Start with the machine where Acronis License Server is installed.

  2. Click Install Acronis Snap Deploy 6.
  3. Click Update.
  4. If you are upgrading Acronis License Server, provide the license keys for Acronis Snap Deploy 6. The license keys for Acronis Snap Deploy 5 remain stored on the license server.
  5. If you are upgrading Acronis OS Deploy Server separately from Acronis License Server, specify the machine with the license server.
  6. Review the installation summary, and then click Install.

Upgrading Acronis PXE Server removes all components of Acronis Snap Deploy 5 that are uploaded to the PXE server. To continue using the PXE server, you need to upload the new components by connecting to the PXE server and clicking Upload components. For details, see the “Configuring Acronis PXE Server” section of the documentation.

Using this installation method, the following configuration parameters will be preserved and will remain intact:

  • List of managed machines
  • Deployment tasks
  • Deployment templates
  • Licenses consumption
