Last update: Tue, 2020-11-03 12:37

Symptoms

  1. You created a backup of a VMware VM using Acronis Cyber Protect 12.5 Virtual appliance.
  2. You recover the backed up VM to the same host with Acronis Cyber Protect 15.
  3. When you boot the VM, it is not possible to change the boot order. The message is:
    All items on this menu cannot be modified in user mode. If any items require change, please consult your systems Supervisor.

Cause

Issue in the product.

This issue will be fixed in one of the future updates.

Solution

Edit the .vmx file of the recovered VM and remove the following lines:

bios.hddOrder = "scsi0:0"
bios.bootOrder = "hdd"

Save changes. After this change, the boot order will be accessible.

More information

The issue does not reproduce if VM is recovered with Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5. If you have Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 in your environment, as a workaround you can perform recovery with this version.
