Description
Copying data to any removable storage device / protocol (including all types of devices / protocols shadowing can be enabled for) interrupts returning the following pop-up message from the system tray:"DeviceLock - Delayed Write Failed. Windows was unable to save all the file data. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by insufficient space for local storage directory (C:\WINDOWS\SHADOW\)."
Comments
The limit for the amount of shadowing data that can be stored locally (defined in "Local Storage Quota" parameter) has been exceeded and "Prevent data transfer on errors" parameter is active in "DeviceLock Service -> Service Options -> Auditing & Shadowing" options.
*"Local Storage Quota" parameter is calculated as a percentage of free space on the system hard drive (DeviceLock Service is installed on). You need to provide enough free space for shadow data in order to successfully complete the shadowing operations. It should be at least 3 times more than the size of data being normally copied.
Recommmendations
1. Increase "Local Storage Quota" parameter's value to provide enough space for DeviceLock Service to create shadow copy of copied data;
2. Decrease "Cleanup files older than (days)" parameter to make DeviceLock Service delete old shadow data;
3. You can also disable "Prevent data transfer on errors" parameter if it's necessary to copy some files, but please note, that DeviceLock will not create any shadow copies for these files.
