Downloading protection upgrades hangs at the beginning with message Calculating time remaining and makes no progress for several hours or more.
One of the possible causes is that port 8099 is already in use and Acronis process GRPM-mini cannot use it.
To verify, check the logs for GRPM-mini process:
If you see a message similar to:
t=2020-08-24T15:12:07-0500 lvl=eror msg="HTTP server has failed" error="listen tcp 127.0.0.1:8099: bind: An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions." caller=main.go:246
then the issue is with port 8099 being in use by other process.
As a workaround, change the default port for GRPM-mini:
- Disable Antiransomware Protection: go to Protection tab, click on Pause protection and select for how long antiransomware protection should be paused.
- Open grpm-mini configuration file C:\ProgramData\Acronis\Agent\etc\generic-resource-policy-manager\generic-resource-policy-manager.yaml for editing, e.g. with WordPad
- Change port in “listen: http” setting from 8099 to a free one (e.g. 8098)
- Close and open Acronis True Image (console) once again. Go to Protection tab and click Resume protection to enable Antiransomware protection
