Symptoms

You copy AcronisTrueImage2020.dmg to the Program or Applications folder and get the following alert:

Acronis True Image is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash

Cause

Newer Mac systems include a security setting that can block the installation of apps downloaded from places other than the Mac App Store.

Solution

Follow the steps below:

1. Download a fresh installation file
2. Drag the downloaded .dmg to Applications
3. Open Applications window on Mac
4. Open Terminal and run the following command:

   xattr -cr /<path to the application>

   For example:
   xattr -cr /Applications/Acronis\ True\ Image.app

   You can type: xattr -cr / and drag Acronis True Image from Applications window on Mac to the terminal window.

If the above steps do not help resolve the issue, please remove Acronis True Image using Cleanup Utility for Mac and install it again.
