64108: Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, Acronis Cyber Backup: installation fails with "MainEngineThread is returning 1632"

Symptoms

You install the backup agent in a Windows operating system. Installation fails with these messages in MSI log (C:\ProgramData\Acronis\InstallationLogs\BackupClient.msi.log):

MSI (s) (6C:34) [17:13:02:292]: Note: 1: 1336 2: 3 3: C:\Windows\Installer\ 
MSI (s) (6C:34) [17:13:02:292]: MainEngineThread is returning 1632

Cause

The folder C:\Windows\Installer does not exist.

To verify that, navigate to C:\Windows, select View -> Options -> View -> clear the Hide protected operating system files check box and confirm your action. Review the list of files and folders in C:\Windows.

Solution

  1. Open C:\Windows folder.
  2. Create the new folder and name it "Installer" 
  3. Repeat the installation of the backup agent

In case the issue persists please collect Process Monitor log (KB2295) while reproducing the issue with the installation.
