63616: Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, Acronis Cyber Backup: Backup plan with replication to network folder fails with error "Archive with the same name already exists"

Last update: Thu, 2020-06-25 10:07

This issue applies only to Windows 7 and Windows 2008R2

1. You create a backup plan backing up to a local folder with replication to a network folder

2. After backup runs 2-3 times, backup plan fails with the following error:

Archive with the same name already exists.

Or Service_process crashes:

TOL: Process 'service_process.exe' has failed.

This issue occurs because of a timing issue in the Server Message Block (SMB) version 2 redirector (Mrxsmb20.sys). When this timing issue occurs, the directory cache is not updated correctly. See this Microsoft Support article for more information.

Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud: the issue has been fixed in version 9.0.

Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5: the issue has been fixed in Update 5 (Build 16180).

As a workaround without installing the latest build, disable SMB2 directory cache on the machine running Windows 7 or Windows 2008R2:

  • Open Registry Editor (Win+R -> regedit) and find the following key:

Set this parameter to 0 (zero). If this value does not exist, create it as DWORD value and set it to 0 (zero).
