Symptoms

VM replication task fails with the following error message:

| error 0x194: Failed to upload file '404'.
| line: 0x7fe2b27b4a169899
| file: e:/212/enterprise/migration/vm_backup/http_file/impl/uploader.cpp:241
| function: Upload
| $module: disk_bundle_tape_off_glxa64_10130

Cause

Virtual machine or datastore names in your environment contain special characters like %, &, *, $, #, @, +, -, etc
vCenter Server and ESX/ESXi server do not escape special characters used in the display names. It causes issues when querying for the name from vSphere Client.
This issue is reproducible when special characters like %, &, *, $, #, @, !, \, /, :, *, ?, ", <, >, |, ;, [, ] ' etc are contained in names of vSphere entities such as virtual machine name, cluster name, datacenter name and datastore/folder/file name.

Solution

This issue has been fixed in Update 4 (Build 14330), please update to the latest build.

To resolve the issue without updating, rename the resource that contains special character.

Acronis Development Team is working on fixing this issue in future versions of the product.
