61700: Acronis True Image: Installation Fails with "%1 is not a valid Win32 application" on Windows 10

  1. Installation of Acronis True Image on Windows 10 fails with the following error:

    1% is not a valid Win32 application

  2. Installation log contains an error similar to the following one:

CustomAction MsiTibInstall_TibApiDll__I returned actual error code 1603

There are two possible causes:

  1. Installation file is damaged
  2. tib.sys driver included in Acronis True Image is not compatible with Hypervisor-protected code integrity (HVCI) feature.

  1. Verify that the installation file have been downloaded correctly. See this article for instructions
  2. HVCI compatibility issue was fixed in Update 2 (Build 14610). Please update Acronis True Image to the latest build. See Downloading the Latest Build of Acronis Software
  3. To resolve the issue without updating to the latest build, disable HVCI on the machine as described in this article
