Installation or update of Acronis Storage Node fails with the following message:

A fatal error has occurred

Error 0x2781fc


"ASN user" account does not exist, but a related key exists in registry.


Delete ASN user entries in the registry:

  1. Open Windows Registry Editor: Start -> search -> type regedit.exe and press Enter.
  2. Locate the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Acronis\Installer\CreatedServiceUser 
  3. Delete the values that have "ASN user" in name
  4. Reattempt the installation
