61326: Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5: Virtual Appliance backup fails with "Cannot find GXT item type 'mms::disk::disk'."

Virtual Appliance backup is not supported

Symptoms

1. You deploy Acronis Virtual Appliance to a ESXi host and it appears in Devices list in web console.

2. You apply a backup plan to Acronis Virtual Appliance. 

3. Backup of Virtual Appliance fails with the following error:

Cannot find GXT item type 'mms::disk::disk'.

 

Cause

Virtual Appliance backup is not supported.

Solution

Since Update 4 (Build 12730) Virtual Appliance cannot be selected for backup from Devices view by default. Please update the product to the latest build.

Further improvements are available in Acronis Cyber Protect 15: virtual appliances are included into the separate group "Virtual appliances", and they cannot be added to backup plans. For more details about upgrade to Acronis Cyber Protect 15, refer to KB 65255: Acronis Cyber Protect 15 upgrade table.

 

To work around the issue without updating, please exclude Acronis Virtual Appliance from all backup plans.
