  2. If you are using Acronis True Image 2017 New Generation, navigate to Settings and uncheck the option Protect all Acronis True Image files from ransomware.
  3. Close Acronis True Image 2017.
  4. Open Services (Start -> Search -> type services.msc and press Enter) and stop all Acronis services. To stop a service: click to select the service, and then click Stop the service.
  5. Open Windows Task Manager (for help, see this article) and terminate the following processes if they are running:

To terminate a process: click to select the process, and then click End Process.

  6. Open Command Prompt as the current user without elevating privileges (Start -> Search -> type cmd and press Enter) and execute the following command:

    subst M: /d

  7. Open Command Prompt with elevated privileges (Start -> Search -> type cmd and wait until cmd.exe (Command Prompt) is found in Programs -> right-click cmd.exe and select Run as administrator) and execute the same command:

    subst M: /d

  8. Open Registry Editor (Start -> Search -> type regedit and press Enter), navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer and set the value of NoDrives to 0 (zero).
  9. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\AcronisDrive\. Open settings.xml in any text editor, e.g. Notepad, look at the forth line and replace the M: with the desired drive letter, for example, T:. Save changes and close the file.
  10. In Windows Explorer, navigate to:

    %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Network Shortcuts

and delete Acronis Drive shortcuts from these folders.

  11. Open Command Prompt as the current user, without using the option Run as administrator, and launch TrueImageMonitor.exe and acronis_drive.exe:
    • If you are on 64-bit Windows, execute the following two commands:

      "C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\TrueImageMonitor.exe"
      "C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\acronis_drive.exe"

    • Respective commands for 32-bit Windows are:

      "C:\Program Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome\TrueImageMonitor.exe"
      "C:\Program Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome\acronis_drive.exe"

Launch Acronis True Image 2017 and browse backups, created from mobile devices, or archives. The drive letter for Acronis Drive should be different now (T: in our example).
