    On-premises deployment

    In on-premises deployment, you need to update both management components and agents. Agents on Windows machines can be updated remotely, Agents on Linux and Mac systems are updated by installing the new build locally.

    Update Acronis Management Server first:

    If Management Server is installed on Windows machine:

    1. Start the backup management console. In All devices, click Add:
    2. Select Windows:
    3. Click Download to download the latest build:

      If your network is not connected to the internet, you need to download the installation file on a machine that has internet access. Log in to your Acronis account at Acronis website and download the latest build of Acronis Cyber Protect. Follow this article, if you need detailed instructions on how to download the latest build.
    4. On the machine where Acronis Management Server is installed, run the installation file and click Update:
    5. Wait until the update is completed.

    If Management Server is installed on Linux machine:

    1. Start the backup management console. In All devices, click Add:
    2. Select Linux:
    3. Download will start automatically

    After updating the Management Server you can update remote agents. You can check which agents require update in Settings -> Agents. Check the Agent version column.

    Updating Agents if Acronis Management Server is installed on a Windows Machine

    Having Acronis Management Server installed in Windows, you can update agents and Virtual Appliance remotely:

    1. Click Settings > Agents.

    The software displays the list of machines. The machines with outdated agent versions are marked with an orange exclamation mark.

    2. Select the machines that you want to update the agents on. The machines must be online.

    3. Click Update agent.

         

    The update progress is shown on the Activities tab.

     

    Updating Agents if Acronis Management Server is installed on a Linux machine

    To update a Virtual Appliance:

    1. In Settings -> Agents, select the appliance and click Delete to remove it from the management server.
    2. Deploy a new Virtual Appliance from an OVF template and specify the management server.

    Having Acronis Management Server installed in Linux, you need to update agent locally:

    1. In All devices, click Add:
    2. Select the operating system of the agent your want to update:
    3. If you select Linux, download should start automatically:
    4. Copy the downloaded installation file to the agent machine.
    5. Double-click the installation file to run it. Click Next to start update and follow the on-screen instructions:

           

    6. Wait until the update is completed.

    Cloud deployment

    In cloud deployment, all management components are located in Acronis data centers and thus are updated automatically. You only need to update agents, once a new build is available.

    1. In backup management console, navigate to Settings, and then click Agents.
    2. A list of all agents registered in the current account is displayed. Check the Agent version column. Outdated agents are marked with an exclamation point:
    3. Click an outdated agent to select it (the machine must be online), and then click Update:

    The latest build will be downloaded and installed on the selected machine.

    If the Update agent option is not available in your account:

    1. Navigate to All devices, and then click Add:
    2. Select the installation file(s) based on the operating system(s) of machines where Acronis agent(s) are installed.
    3. Download the installation file(s).
    4. Run installation file(s) on the agent machine(s). Click Update.
    5. Wait until the update completes.
