General instructions on how to enable Wake-on-LAN

Introduction

Make sure that the machine supports the Wake-on-LAN option. You can check this, for example, in the properties of the network card:

  • Hit Start-Run and type in devmgmt.msc;
  • Click Network adapters;
  • Right-click on the network card and select Properties;
  • Click Advanced and check if Wake-on-LAN is listed in there.

Solution

It is strongly recommended to check the documentation for the computer or network card for information on how to enable Wake-on-LAN.

The general instructions on enabling Wake-on-LAN are the following:

  • Enter the computer BIOS and set Power -> Wake On PCI PME -> Power On;
  • Boot in Windows and do the following:
    • Hit Start-Run and type in devmgmt.msc;
    • Click Network adapters;
    • Right-click on the network card and select Properties;
    • Click Advanced and enable Wake-on-LAN there:
