Your scheduled backups will be temporarily suspended until you renew your subscription. Previously made backups will remain usable, and all the recovery and management functions will remain operational. Upon the subscription license expiry, is it possible to switch to perpetual one? It is possible to switch to perpetual license after subscription expiration, however you will need to purchase a full license for full price. Acronis Backup and Acronis Backup Advanced 11.7 Is Acronis Backup 11.7 a new version or an update? Technically, Acronis Backup 11.7 is an update to Acronis Backup 11.5. Will I receive upgrade to next version of Acronis Backup for free? If you will have active maintenance contract, or a valid subscription license on the release of new version, you will get an upgrade free of charge. Can Acronis Backup 11.7 components coexist with Acronis Backup 11.5 components in the same environment? Yes, component can co-exists with the version-specific limitations: Acronis Backup 11.5 agents can connect to and be managed by newer Acronis Backup 11.7 Management Server. Acronis Storage Node 11.7 is only compatible with Acronis Management Server 11.7 and vice-versa. Thus, it is recommended to first upgrade Acronis Management Server and Acronis Storage Node, then upgrade agents over time. If I install Acronis Backup 11.7, will I have to rebuild deduplication database? You do not have to rebuild the deduplication database, as they are backward compatible. However, to gain access to the ultimate performance and all the benefits of new deduplication engine in Acronis Backup 11.7, a new deduplication vault has to be created, agents need to be updated to Acronis Backup 11.7 and backup should be directed to this new vault. Does Acronis Backup 11.7 support backup archives created by Acronis Backup 11.5 and earlier versions? Trial version Where do I go for the trial serial number and proper installation file to start a product trial? I have an Acronis Backup Advanced for Windows Server license. Now I need to protect an SQL Server running on this machine. Should I change the license? You can buy an Acronis Backup Advanced for SQL Add-On or convert your license to Acronis Backup Advanced for Server subscription. Acronis offers both add-on licenses for all other supported applications, as well as conversion from perpetual licenses to subscriptions. What license should I purchase to do backup to tapes? How many licenses should I purchase to do backup to multi-drive tape libraries? Any Acronis Backup Advanced license includes tape support, with no limitation on the number of drives or types of devices. Tape support is included with the base license. I would like to backup both Windows and Linux servers. Which product should I buy? You must buy a license for each server. I need to backup VMware virtual machines and the ESXi host itself, how many licenses should I purchase? You can get one license of Acronis Backup for Server subscription for each host. Alternatively, you can get a license of Acronis Backup for VMware for each CPU of the protected host. In both cases you will get backup for both virtual machines and the host itself. Can Acronis Backup (Advanced) for Windows Server/PC licenses be used to protect a virtual machine? Yes. You can use a Server/PC license to perform an agent-based backup, when the agent is installed inside the VM. I want to move a license to another machine. Is it possible? How to do this? Do I need to obtain a new license? If the current machine with Acronis Backup goes out of service or becomes obsolete, you can move your product license to another machine. In order to revoke a license, go to the Licenses/Change License view in the Management Console. After revoking the license from the old machine, you can assign it to a new one. Upgrade, Downgrade, and Compatibility questions Is there anything related to licensing that I need to consider before upgrading to the next major version? To perform an upgrade, you need to have an upgrade license. If you have a valid maintenance or a subscription license, you can access a free upgrade license in your account section of the Acronis website, under My Products & Downloads, next to the licenses you registered in your Acronis account. If you don't have a maintenance or a subscription, you can either extend your maintenance, renew your subscription, or purchase an upgrade license. I have a perpetual license. Should I buy an upgrade or a maintenance? Which is more cost efficient? A maintenance subscription gives you 24/7 support and free upgrades for a year. Without a maintenance subscription, an upgrade license must be purchased separately. How can I check which licenses I purchased and their expiration dates? I want to use an older version of Acronis products. How can I buy them? What are the downgrade possibilities? After you buy a license and register it in the my.account section on Acronis website, you can downgrade to one major version below. The downgrade option is available in my.account for each product that has a previous version. If you want to use product that is two versions back or older (such as Acronis True Image 9.1), you have to contact support. Register old licenses in my.account and you will receive the download link to the corresponding setup program. Is an upgrade/cross-grade from Acronis Backup to Acronis Backup Advanced possible? Or should I buy a new version? Yes. You can switch to an Advanced product from non-Advanced. You have to contact your reseller to purchase a Feature Upgrade license for a special price. Can I upgrade a perpetual version to a subscription one? There are no specific upgrade paths for this case. You can purchase subscription version and start using it instead.
