Cloud storage available to end-users is defined by Storage quota and Overage.
Storage quota is the amount of space provided to a EUC or an account in a EUC for storing backups. If this value is exceeded, the group administrator and the administrators of the parent group will receive an email notification. Cloud backups will continue until overage is reached.
Overage is the amount of extra space provided to a EUC or an account in a EUC for storing backups while actions to inform end-users about exceeding storage quota, arrange payments and/or enlarge storage quota can be taken. When the overage is exceeded, the end-user, the group administrator and the administrators of the parent group will receive an email notifications (once a day). The first cloud backup that exceeds the overage will complete successfully, subsequent backups will fail. Currently, the overage is unlimited for local backups, the backups will continue.
Overage quota is available starting with version 4.2 (Agent build 12.0.1588). To enable this feature, update all Agents to the latest build. See this article for help.
To set up or change a storage quota or an overage quota see this article.
Starting with version 7.7, local storage available to end-users is defined by Storage quota. Local storage includes the following backup destinations:
- Local folders
- Network folders
- NFS folders
- Secure Zone
Storage quota is the amount of space provided to a EUC or an account in a EUC for storing backups. If this value is exceeded, the group administrator and the administrators of the parent group will receive an email notification. By default, “Local backup” quotas for all existing Customers and sub-partners are set to unlimited. You can adjust or disable quotas as described in this article.
Occupied local storage is calculated once per day (5 AM GMT), aggregated by Customer group.
You can check occupied local storage on the Overview -> Usage tab of the management portal. Please note, that the space marked as 'used' in the location (Backup Console -> Backups) shows the total occupied space in this location, not the backup size.
The following operations in Acronis Backup Cloud update local backup usage:
- Manual and scheduled backup
- Backup replication
- Backup retention
- Deletion of slice
- Deletion of archive
- Deletion of vault (backup location)
Manual deletion of files from the file system (not from product interface) does not lead to local backup usage update. To update storage usage, open the Recovery tab for this machine and click Refresh. See detailed instructions in this article.
Local storage usage for a network share that is registered with different DNS names or IPs is counted multiple times: by the number of names of the share. See Acronis Backup Cloud: local storage usage calculated twice
Local storage used on clustered environments (ESXi, Hyper-V) is not yet included into calculation, usage calculation for these environments will be added in next versions of Acronis Data Cloud.
Number of machines that can be protected is defined by Physical workstations, Physical servers, and, starting with version 6.0 (server version 6.0.521 or later), Virtual machines, Mobile Devices quotas and overage. When the quota is exceeded, a notification is sent. When the overage is exceeded, end users will not be able to protect more machines of this type. If a quota is set to 0, end users will not be able to download the installation package for this type of machines and will not be able to protect them.
To set up or change machines quotas or overage see this article.
