Symptoms
- You use Acronis bootable media or run an operation that requires reboot, for example, recovering system partition or cloning.
- The operation fails with error like:
This Kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU: pae – unable to boot – please use a kernel appropriate for you CPU.
Cause
PAE is a processor feature that enables x86 processors to access more than 4 GB of physical memory. If the processor in your computer does not have this feature, you won't be able to boot it with Acronis bootable media.
Solution
We have developed a custom media, which does not require PAE. Please contact Acronis Support and request the media.
In Acronis True Image 2020, PAE is disabled by default in Linux-based bootable media. If you have an active Acronis True Image Advanced or Premium subscription, you can upgrade to the latest version for free.
