You can set up compression level on the Perfomance tab in Advanced backup options.

  1. While creating a backup, click on Options:
  2. Click on Advanced:
  3. Scroll down to Performance:
  4. Select compression level:

None - the data will be copied without any compression, which may significantly increase the backup file size.
Normal - the recommended data compression level (set by default).
High - higher backup file compression level, takes more time to create a backup.
Maximum - maximum backup compression, but takes a long time to create a backup.

Compression is not available for Backup to Cloud, data in your Cloud backup is deduplicated automatically: before you start an online backup, Acronis True Image analyzes the data that you selected. If there are two or more identical data blocks, only one of them will be uploaded to Acronis Cloud.

Compression rate can only be set during backup task creation. It cannot be changed later - you need to reacreate the backup task and start a new backup with the newly changed compression rate.
