45522: Acronis True Image: Activation Fails with "Failed to connect to the Acronis activation server"

Last update: 01-04-2019

Summary: Select "Activate from another computer" and activate manually.

This article applies to earlier versions of Acronis True Image. For Acronis True Image 2018/2019 see Acronis True Image 2018 and 2019: license activation fails due to blocked network connection to Acronis servers

This article describes how to proceed in case if Acronis True Image activation fails with "Activation failed due to a connection error" or "Failed to connect to the Acronis activation server".

Cause

Either the firewall is blocking True Image from connecting to our servers, or the activation server is not available temporarily. To find out what is the cause of the activation error in your case and resolve the problem, proceed with the solution offered below.

Solution

Click "Activate offline" (or "Activate from another computer" in the earlier versions of Acronis True Image) and follow the steps offered by the activation wizard.

If the license file is not accepted by the activation web page, try copying and pasting the installation code from True Image directly to the activation web page.

If the activation still fails or there are issues with the activation web page, please reattempt the activation in 1 day.

If the problem is resolved with the manual activation method, most probably the firewall was blocking Acronis True Image from accessing the activation server. You may want to add the following exclusion rule:

Process: %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Acronis\TrueImageHome\license_activator.exe

Address: activation.acronis.com/cpas

Port: 80

Protocol: TCP

Further troubleshooting

If the issue with software activation remains, please create step-by-step screenshots, AcronisInfo report and contact Acronis Support.
