If there are both ShadowProtect and Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Agent for Windows installed on the same machine and you back up with VSS enabled, the incremental and differential backups will be of the same size as the full ones

- Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server
- Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Server for Windows (Standalone)
- Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server - Small Business Server Edition
- Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server - Virtual Edition
Symptoms
- You install Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Agent for Windows on the same machine with ShadowProtect;
- You create a full backup with the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) option enabled, and append an incremental or differential backup to the full one;
- The incremental or differential is of the same size as the full one.
Cause
ShadowProtect drivers prevent Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 from correct functioning.
Solution
There are two possible solutions:
- Disable the VSS option in Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Backup options:
- Or uninstall ShadowProtect to have Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 functioning correctly.
