You should always start the Acronis Management Console as a user with root privileges
This article applies to:
- Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server (Agent for Linux)
- Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Server for Linux (Standalone)
- Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server - Virtual Edition (Agent for Linux)
Symptoms
- In Linux, you start the Acronis Management Console using the sudo command;
- Then you log off and log on back as a user without root privileges;
- You start the Acronis Management Console as a user without root privileges and without using the sudo command;
- Any attempt to connect to the Acronis Agent for Linux from the Acronis Management Console fails with the following error message:
Failed to write credential '(0)' to the set of user credentials
Cause
The first start of Acronis Management Console with the sudo command creates the ~/.Acronis directory that can only be accessed by a user with root privileges.
You can connect to Acronis Agent only as a user with root privileges.
Solution
Always start the Acronis Management Console and connect to the Acronis Agent as a user with root privileges.
