43803: Acronis Software: File Backup Fails with "The System Cannot Find the Specified Path"

Fix the volume index with chkdsk /f command or exclude the specified folder from items to backup.


File-level backup fails with error:

The system cannot find the specified path.


File or folder specified in the filename line of the error message does not exist or is corrupted. It is impossible to copy, delete or rename this folder in Windows Explorer either.


Solution 1

Fix the volume index to resolve the issue:

  1. Define on which volume the corrupted file or folder resides.
  2. Go to command prompt (Start -> run -> cmd) and enter following command:

    chkdsk VOLUME /f

    where VOLUME is the volume letter you need to check. Please note, that checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

Solution 2

To work around this issue exclude the file for folder from items to backup.
