Difference between Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 for SQL (Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 for Microsoft SQL Server) and Acronis Recovery for MS SQL Server
Single-pass disk and application backup.
A single-pass backup is an Acronis technology that creates an application-aware disk backup. This backup enables browsing and recovery of the backed-up data, which may be a single file, selected SQL database, selected disk or volume or the entire computer. With single-pass backup, any type of recovery can be performed from just a single backup, using one backup plan, enabling both the disaster recovery and data protection scenarios.

Planning your upgrade to Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 for SQL (Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 for Microsoft SQL Server)
When compared to Acronis Recovery for MS SQL Server, the new product Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 for SQL (Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 for Microsoft SQL Server) is implemented based on different base technologies. Therefore, when planning an upgrade, a number of issues should be considered.
- Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 for SQL (Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 for Microsoft SQL Server) utilizes both application and disk level protection. Any additional disk or file level backup would be redundant.
- Separate SQL Transaction log backup is not available in Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 for SQL (Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 for Microsoft SQL Server). If such backup is required, another solution should be used.
- Support of Microsoft SQL Server versions prior to 2005 is discontinued in Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 for SQL (Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 for Microsoft SQL Server). For the legacy deployments where such support is required, it may be advisable to stay on the old backup solution.
