Symptom:
Attempting to rename or duplicate a file whose name is longer than 31 characters on an Acronis Files Connect (formerly ExtremeZ-IP) volume from a Mac OS X client causes the file name to be truncated to 31 characters.
Steps to Reproduce:
Copy a file with a long name to an Acronis Files Connect volume from a Mac OS X client. Attempt to rename the file, or duplicate it. The file name will be truncated.
Cause:
This is caused by a bug in the Mac OS X Finder that was fixed in Mac OS X 10.3.3. Note this behavior also occurs when a Mac OS X client is connected to another Mac OS X client or server.
Workaround:
If it is not feasible to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.3.3 or later, a workaround is to copy the file locally, rename or duplicate the file, and then copy it back to the server.
Fix:
Use Mac OS X 10.3.3 or later to take advantage of Apple's fix for this bug.
