For purposes of centralization of print management and logging, it may be desirable to configure all Macs and Windows PC's in an environment to print through Acronis Files Connect (formerly ExtremeZ-IP) print server queues. By doing this, all print jobs are routed through and logged by Acronis Files Connect, allowing all print activity to be audited using Acronis Files Connect. This document walks through the steps required to set up a Windows client computer to print to an Acronis Files Connect Print Server.
The following steps are required to set up a Windows client to print to an Acronis Files Connect Print Server. More detailed instructions on how to perform the steps above can be found in the PDF form of this article.
1. Add a new 'local' printer to the Windows client
2. Set up a new 'Standard TCP/IP Port' that points to the Acronis Files Connect print server queue and assign it to this local printer
3. Configure the local printer type/driver
